ITINERARY:
STAY - in a 400-year-old farmhouse turned bed and breakfast surrounded by acres of organic olive and fruit trees owned by an American cookbook author. TOUR - floral farms in the heart of Tuscany, where you'll learn about floriculture and have the opportunity to create a one of a kind floral arrangement in a hands-on design workshop. HARVEST & FORAGE - for seasonal produce like pea tendrils, fava beans, asparagus, and wild edibles like herbs and mushrooms - turn what you find into an unforgettable meal. DISCOVER - La Foce and other world-famous gardens set in the Val d' Orcia - a Tuscan World Heritage site. VISIT - local markets and food artisans and learn about their specialties and age-old food traditions / production methods and sample cured meats, cheeses and wine. LUXURIATE - in therapeutic hot springs at Bagno Vignoni like the Etruscans and Romans before you. PARTICIPATE - in developing and preparing a meal with celebrated cookbook author, Pamela Sheldon Johns, with ingredients gathered from her organic kitchen garden and from around her farm. THE DETAILS:
GROUP SIZE - 16 maximum; 7 minimum ACTIVITY LEVEL - Moderate - must be able to climb stairs and hike over uneven terrain and streets. TRAVEL STYLE - City / Village / Countryside *COST - €2,850 / $2,850 per person in double occupancy Note: the Euro & Dollar are currently equal in value, but not forever - take advantage of it. It represents a savings of $300-$400! WHAT IS INCLUDED - All meals and beverages, morning and afternoon activities, accommodations, and ground transportation to / from Chiusi, located halfway between Florence and Rome. * Suggest flying into Florence or Rome. Can take the train to Chuisi, where you will be picked up and transported to Poggio Etrusco. NOTE: Special diets can be accommodated with advance notice. TO BOOK: Request a registration form from info@foodartisans.com, fill out for each person, scan, and return to the above email. * Once your registration form is received, you will receive a PayPal invoice for the deposit which can be paid by credit card (even if you don’t have a PayPal account). You can also pay by bank wire transfer. Wire instructions will be included in the invoice. * The registration fee is $750/person, which covers the $250 non-refundable registration fee - the remaining $500 is refundable (less 10% handling) with notice of at least 90 day prior to the tour. The balance is due 90 days prior to the workshop, noticed by another invoice from PayPal. The final balance is non-refundable at that point.
